Toshiba satellite P850 Screen Repair

Toshiba satellite P850 is an entry level laptop that was widely sold in Australia, the amount of these laptops I have seen sold is huge.

It is a reliable laptop just like most Toshibas, sold at around $800+ depending on the specs yo want in a laptop.

The Toshiba Satellite P850 laptop was mostly released with a High definition (HD 1366 x 768) screen, some models were released with FULL High Definition  (FHD 1920 x 1080) also known as 1080P.

The P850 screen is a glossy standard 15.6″ screen that was used in many laptops at the time, screen thickness is 5.1mm and contributes approx 400 grams to the laptop weight.

Replacing the screen on the P850 is a straight forward job, just be careful with the LCD and camera cable. Always make sure the laptop is unplugged and battery removed.

remove the 2 screws marked by red circles on the image above

1-remove the caps covering the screws

2- remove the 2 screws holding the bezel in place (image below). It is a bit tight getting the screw driver in to get a good grip.

3- Remove the bezel. Once yo remove the screws the bezel is easily removed form the top and sides. It is a bit tricky on the hinge cover part, you will need to lift the bezel at 45 degrees. If not successful, get some thin spudger or screw driver under the hinge covers and pull at 45 degrees.

4- Once done, remove the 2 screws holding the hinge top to the LCD Back Toshiba-Satellite-P850-screen

5- Loosen 2 screws hholding the hinge bottom to the LCD back cover.

6- Remove 6 screws (3 on each side) on the LCD brackets

7- Tilt the screen towards the keyboard slightly and REMOVE THE CAMERA CABLE. Then tilt all the way to the keyboard and remove the LCD cable. The LCD cable maybe stuck to the screen, if so make sure you remove the part that is stuck to the screen before trying to disconnect.

8- Connect the new screen and test to make sure all good, before reversing every thing yo done did above.
