A flip device is a device that can be used as Laptop as well as tablet when the screen is flipped back, looks exactly like a tablet with a larger screen. End users seem to have good appetite towards these machines.
As any other touch device and as I always write in my blogs. One down side, you guessed it, the touch screen. The most sensitive most expensive part of the device is the touch screen. Users should take extra care when using these devices or be prepared to pay for the repairs. Don’t get me wrong they are nice little devices. Can be used as Tablet or Laptop. Saves you buying 2 devices. But you want to try and avoid damaging it.
As I am writing these words, I Googled the price for “Inspiron 13 5378” and the price came as $845 to $1099. Two days ago I received a quote from DELL for the touch screen and it came at $527.63.
This is more than half the price of the laptop, just to replace the touch screen. We still have to add labor to the price, So it will come close to $650.
Luckily, we have some suppliers that have access to this spare part and are able to supply the touch screen at a cheaper price. Thanks to our suppliers, we are able to repair this screen @ $400 in 2-3 days. The screen was released in 3 different resolutions:
